Submitting a Conference Proposal

The call for papers is open for the PGECR Country House Group’s first annual conference in March 2024 (see Events section for more details). If you’ve never submitted a proposal for a conference before it might seem a bit daunting.

Giving a paper at a conference as a postgraduate student can be excellent experience in presenting your research at any stage, and getting feedback from the audience that will be useful for your finished project. Many universities ask students to list their presentations at conferences as part of the annual review process, and this includes the experience of submitting proposals and getting accepted on to a panel or not, and having feedback for this.

Our conference will be a small and welcoming event, where everyone is researching the topic you are passionate about - the country house - so it will also be a great opportunity to share ideas and network.

This guide from LSE is incredibly useful in putting together a brilliant abstract for your proposal. This is also an excellent summary:

If you have any questions about the conference before submitting a proposal, please do not hesitate to get in touch with Sarah - 0405529@uca.ac.uk
